There is no doubt that the success of anything that is nowadays available on the market largely depends on its popularity and thus on its advertising. Commercials are aimed at presenting a product or idea, or even service as something that the audience needs, likes or identifies with and their main purpose is to convince individuals to either buy a product or service or to adhere to an idea. Advertising has always been a technique used to persuade individuals and this has not changed yet. The only thing that has changed is the items that are nowadays being advertising for and the means through which they are introduced to the public. Education has become one of the new fields that are being ‘sold’ to the audience.Education programs, as any other thing in the world, only work and can only improve if people enroll into them. Bachelors or Masters Degree cannot exist if students do not know about them and thus do not enroll into them. Advertising education may seem a new phenomenon but although it has existed for some time, it has benefited from the boom brought about by the emergence of the internet. Online advertising is nowadays being used to persuade students to enroll into a program and thus to bring in students into a specific faculty or program, rather than another. The competition has moreover increased between different universities as more students nowadays afford continuing their education.
Web advertising has become a common way to persuade students to follow a specific master’s or bachelor’s program. The benefit of the internet does not only include the fact that most internet users are relatively young and thus might be interested in such commercials, but it also includes a very large audience and this increases the chances for persuading more potentially interested individuals.
